Internship Extended

I am pleased to announce to everyone at Northeast Alabama Community College that my internship in New York City has been extended an extra month. I have been hanging around several of the news reporters and learning a lot from them.

Everyone here has been so friendly and willing to teach me everything they know. I am definitely enjoying this amazing experience.

There have been many stars that have been around the station which has been real exciting also. Are there any Justin Bieber fans reading this right now? Well here is a picture of me and his mom. She was at the station just a few days ago and is a very nice lady.

I will be in New York for several more weeks, so check back for more updates. I appreciate everyone who has been reading.

The New Yankee Stadium

I hope everyone at Northeast Alabama Community College is having a great summer.

I know there may not be many New York Yankee fans who are reading this right now. But if you like baseball, you have to respect the team that has won 27 championships. I have been to the new stadium twice since being in New York and it is spectacular.

It is not like a normal baseball stadium where everyone is crammed in.The new stadium is comfortable and full of baseball history. I know many questioned why they had to build a new park, but when you enter the new place, those questions disappear.

The history has followed across the street to the new stadium. The Yankees won their 27th title in 2009, which was the first year the stadium was opened. So if you are visiting here, go to this great place.

Bringing In The New Year

Millions of people across the world come to New York City each year to ring in the New Year. I was fortunate enough to do that two years ago. It was definitely an experience. I was able to get pretty close to all of the action. There was a lot of excitement throughout the night leading up to the ball drop.

I encourage everyone at Northeast Alabama Community College to go to Times Square at least once to bring in the New Year.

Here is a picture I took of the ball just a few days ago.

The Federal Hall

This statue of George Washington stands outside of the Federal Hall National Memorial on Wall Street. The Federal Hall is the site of George Washington's inauguration as the first President of the United States.

On these grounds is also where the Bill of Rights was introduced in the First Congress.

I have been interning here in New York City for several weeks now and I have had the opportunity to pass this building several times and it is just amazing to think of the history that happened in this area.

I took this picture of the statue to show everyone Northeast Alabama Community College. I know many of you appreciate great history like this.

Spray Paint Art

I hope everyone at Northeast Alabama Community College is having a great day.I have something cool to show you .

If someone gave you a blank poster board, several different colors of spray paint and a small putty knife and told you to make something totally spectacular in 10 minutes, what would you do or think?

I was walking around Times Square not long ago and saw a guy on the side of the street with all of these materials. There was a crowd gathered around and it caught my eye. I stood there for just a few minutes and was amazed. He started out just randomly spraying each can of paint all over the blank poster board. He then used the top of the cap from the can and the putty knife to produce one of the most incredible pieces of art you will ever see made in less then 10 minutes.

It might be hard to believe that this piece of art was created from start to finish in just a short period of time, but it was.

The Freedom Tower

I have some amazing pictures to show everyone at Northeast Alabama Community College. The Freedom Tower is pretty much complete now. The very top was put on just weeks ago and the New York City skyline looks unbelievable. This tower is just proof that you can knock this great country down but we will get right back up. If anyone comes here you definitely need to come and and visit this area.

Here are just a couple of pictures I took.

Enjoying New York City

I hope everyone at Northeast Alabama Community College is enjoying the summer. I have been in New York City for several weeks now and I have been learning so much from some of the best in the broadcasting business.

In the upcoming weeks I am going to get the opportunity to cover some news events and possibly do some interviews. It is unbelievable how much goes into running a successful radio station.

I am fortunate enough to be able to see the Statue of Liberty every single day. It is such an amazing sight. The Hurricane created damage around the statue months ago, but she will be open for viewing again soon.
